Paul Lucckesi

Paul Lucckesi is the director of Jazz Studies for the Buchanan Educational Center in Clovis, CA. He received his B.A. in music education from California State University, Fresno.

Mr. Lucckesi has been selected to conduct the honor jazz band for Tulare/Kings County, and as an adjudicator has judged jazz festivals in Northern and Central California.

As a professional Mr. Lucckesi has performed with Michelle Rosewoman, Craig Handy, Peter Erskine, Jon Faddis, Michael Spiro, David Garibaldi, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Gladys Knight and acclaimed poet Quincy Troupe as well as in numerous radio and television commercials. He is currently a member of the Jazz Composers Orchestra (Fresno).

Mr. Lucckesi is the festival director of the San Joaquin Valley Jazz Festival which in February celebrated its Twentieth Anniversary. He serves a board member of the California Band Director’s Association and is on the board of Directors as well as a staff member of the La Sierra Creative Arts Camp where he teaches private saxophone lessons and directs the top jazz ensemble.

Groups under his direction have performed at the 50th Monterey Jazz Festival, the California Band Director's Association Convention and most recently placed first at the Monterey Next Generation Festival and The Reno Jazz festival. In September the Buchanan Jazz Band 'A' will play the Main Stage at the 51st Annual Monterey Jazz Festival, making history in the Valley for a jazz ensemble.
