Albert Van Troba

As a young child growing up in Coueur d' Alene Idaho, some of Albert's earliest and fondest memories were those of sculpting figures and drawing images in the dirt. In third grade he won the Idaho State Art Contest In Drawing and Painting. It was then that he began dreaming of becoming an artist and maybe someday an art teacher. Albert has been living out that dream for the past 37 years. He has even been nominated for the Who's Who Among American Teachers.

Drawing and painting are a true passion in Albert's life. He has worked as a commission portrait artist, wild life artist, has he has provided panting demonstrations with Eddie Baur's in Settle Washington. Albert has also done painting demonstrations and art shows in Nordstroms in Bellevue Washington.

Over the last 15 years he has shown and sold his art in several galleries and workshops in Cannon beach, Ballantyine & Douglas, Bronze Coast Gallery, and Surfsand. Other locations have been Ballantyne & Hastings in Napa Valley, and the VIP in Scottsdal, Arizona. Albert has also held plain air workshops in Clovis, California.

Van Troba's Artist Statement

Three forces that have influenced me are: My faith in God, My wife, who has truly inspired me, and the inner desire to create. My work has been influenced by studying the old masters like Rembrandt, Claude Monet, and Sergei Bongart. Understanding the principles of painting and knowing the rules have influenced my work as well. Using the strategies of starting with a thumbnail sketch, value studies, preliminary water color painting, visualizing the end result, coupled with continued study and practice has developed my talent. I enjoy the study of light. I take it from a dark rich color and blend it with brilliant lighter colors to create an image I have visualized. This is very exciting and rewarding to create a long lasting impression for those who view my work.
