The Academy is a four-year program that helps students explore and prepare for college, conservatories, or career pursuits in the areas of Visual and or Performing Arts. Students in the academy will have additional exposure to arts related curriculum in their core academic classes. They will also be able to take a variety of advanced arts courses. Academy students and teachers are grouped together in a cohort so they develop strong bonds to each other and the program. In all Academy courses, students learn communication, teamwork, organization, and problem solving skills which compliment their creative abilities. Academy students benefit from being with students and teachers who share their interests, and weave those interests into the curriculum. |
Academy students choose from two pathways for their four-year plans, depending on their career interests. These pathways and curiculum can be found here. In addition to the unique BFA English and Social Science classes, students may choose from elective courses in areas of their interest.
These pathways fully allow students to take advantage of Honors options in grades 9 & 10 and AP courses in grades 11 & 12. |
The Fine Arts Academy at Buchanan High School has partnered with many different local organizations that give our students access to a vast amout of resources.
